Civil services exam 

 

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to higher Civil Servants of indian Government , including the Indian Administrative Service(IAS) , Indian Foreign Service(IFS) , Indian Police Service(IPS) and indian revenue Service (IRS)  many more prestigious jobs. This exam is popularly known as the 'IAS exam ' . This exam is consider as the toughest exam in India.

All about exam? 

This exam is attempted by around 5-8 Lakh candidates each year. UPSC CSE will be conducted in 3 phases: 

1) Prelims and 2) Mains 3) Interview. 

The exam extends over a year 

Civil Service prelims examination : 

There are two papers in Civil Service Prelims Examination. And it is objective in nature . 

General Studies Paper -1

 (This paper deals with subjects like History, Polity, Economics etc. basically all important subjects of general studies ) . 

General Studies Paper -2

(This paper deals with subjects like Mental Ability, English Comprehension etc. This paper is known as CSAT – Civil Services Aptitude Test).

Civil service mains examination :

The main stage is subjective in nature. Answers have to be written on paper.As per the revised syllabus consists of 9 papers. Marks of 7 out of these 9 papers will be counted for final ranking, while 2 papers will be of qualifying nature.
